This is Spinal Tap (1984) Criterion Collection 2xDVD5

This Is Spinal Tap is a 1984 American mockumentary film directed and co-written by Rob Reiner. It stars Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer as members of the fictional British heavy metal band Spinal Tap, and Reiner as Marty Di Bergi, a documentary filmmaker who follows them on their American tour. The film satirizes the behavior and musical pretensions of rock bands and the hagiographic tendencies of rock documentaries such as Gimme Shelter (1970), The Song Remains the Same (1976), and The Last Waltz (1978).[4] Most of its dialogue was improvised and dozens of hours were filmed.

This is a 100% rip of the Criterion release of the film (the VIDEO_TS folders were copied and no re-encoding was done). This version was originally released on a double-sided DVD. I have broken it up into two logical discs here with two sets of VIDEO_TS files.

There are a number of features of this Criterion release that are not found on any other version, with the most sought after being the commentary track by Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer done out-of-character (all commentary tracks on other releases of the film have them in-character). Here is a complete list of the contents of each disc:

SIDE 1 FEATURES

    - The complete 82-minute movie, with dual commentaries: Track 1: Spinal Tap’s Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer; Track 2: Rob Reiner, producer Karen Murphy, and editors Robert Leighton and Kent Beyda

SIDE 2 FEATURES

    - Original industry and theatrical trailers
    - Twenty-minute demo reel, Spinal Tap: The Final Tour
    - Promotional shorts: Heavy Metal Memories and “Hell Hole”
    - The Cutting Room Floor: More than one hour of deleted scenes, abandoned subplots, and alternate takes
